Ambassador, Power Coach
Hi, my name is William Brewer.
I live in Delaware County and I am a Power Coach for SAU1. I travel all over the state to places like Harrisburg, State College and Altoona.
I fight for self advocacy by presenting for SAU1. I present about the LifeCourse, everyday lives, and Let’s Get to Work because knowledge is power! If I stopped working for SAU1, I would feel sad. I started working at SAU1 in 2008.
It is important to me to be a self advocate because it is better for everyone when they can say yes or no to what they want. In 2018, I was going to work at a program for a few hours a week. In 2019, I chose to go to Utility Works. Utility Works is a shared art studio in Lansdowne. Now I go 3 days a week and I have my own studio. I wanted this so I said YES! SAU1, SAPNA, and Utility Works are important to me.
I became part of SAU1 because I like to meet new people. My favorite thing about SAU1 is going to new places and meeting new people. I hope I can give power to people like me and help them follow their dreams like me.
In my life outside of SAU1, I go to Utility Works on Monday, Wednesday and Friday to work on my art. On Tuesday, I go out with Jesse and Taylor, my support workers. I got out to eat with Jesse and see new places. I work on bracelets and necklaces with Taylor. I won a SARTAC Fellowship in July. I am teaching three workshops and in September I am hosting an art show at Utility Works. I enjoy making art with Erin, my support worker, at Utility Works.
I graduated from high school in 2007.
My vision for my everyday life is to move into an apartment near my art studio, live by myself, and do things by myself.
I have a cat and a dog. The dog’s name is Champ and the cat’s name is Kitten. I like that Champ and Kitten play with their toys.
My favorite food is pepperoni pizza.
