Event Coordinator
Hi, my name is Amy Craig.
I live in Venango County and I am an Event Coordinator and Ambassador for SAU1. I started in 2019.
It is important to me to be a self advocate because I like to be heard, acknowledged, and understood.
I became part of SAU1 because I heard about it from family members and was interested in working for SAU1. SAU1 invited me to the staff training in the fall of 2018 to learn more about it and I loved all of the people and the mission.
My favorite thing about SAU1 is that everyone works together. The schedule is flexible and the first rule is to “take care of yourself.” That is a rare find. I love talking to all the self advocates and learning new ways of looking at and doing things.
I hope I can help SAU1 make everyone’s lives better in positive ways. I also hope the energy of everyone at SAU1 is passed on to everyone on the outside so that they see people as people and not “disabled.”
In my life outside of SAU1, I enjoy gardening, writing, getting ready for the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance (DBSA) group that I lead twice a month. I also like to “binge watch” TV shows and spend time with my family and friends.
I have associates’ degrees in Rehabilitative Science and Legal Business Studies. I was Program Coordinator for an at-risk youth program and worked at a radio station doing several things including being on the radio.
My vision for my everyday life is to make the lives of everyone I talk to better in some positive way, to learn something new and do at least 1 healthy thing for myself every day.
I have 2 cats, Bella and Emmy, 1 dog, Shadella, 2 turkeys, Greystoke and Miri, 9 chickens - naming them was impossible, and 3 ducks, Frack, Aragon and Gandolph, and 2 goats Bilbo and Frodo.
My favorite foods are veggie pizza and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.
