We here at SAU1 would like to take this opportunity to wish our community, our staff, and supporters, a Happy Thanksgiving holiday. Part of what we, as an organization, love about Thanksgiving, is that it allows those in a community to come together and share a meal. This could be with family, friends, housemates, or the community in general. We strive to provide resources so that those with disabilities can become as involved in their communities as possible.
We want everyone to be included in Thanksgiving celebrations if they choose to be. If you don't have access to a community meal based on your circumstances, there are several organizations that provide free community meals to those in need during the Thanksgiving holiday. These organizations could include churches, community centers, and possibly certain branches of the Salvation Army. If you or someone you know does not have access to a community meal during this Thanksgiving holiday, please feel free to reach out to these types of organizations, so that you can find the community meal closest to you.
Being a part of a supportive community is something to be extremely thankful for. We here at SAU1 are thankful for you, our loyal staff, self advocates, and supporters. Without your support, we could not continue to provide the essential service of allowing those with disabilities to live their life the way they choose. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your continued support over the years. We are grateful for you this Thanksgiving season.
Stay tuned for a follow-up blog to hear what our self advocates are thankful for this Thanksgiving season.
