In this month's Speak Up Spotlight we want to introduce you to Gretchen Laudenslager. Gretchen has been working as an Ambassador and Power Coach for SAU1 since 2017.
When asked why self advocacy is so important to her, Gretchen says, "It is important to me to be a self advocate to spread the word to other people with disabilities to speak up for themselves.”
As a power coach for SAU1, Gretchen is involved in our Housing Myth Busting project, which is a project we partner with Families CCAN to present. Gretchen is a lead presenter on the project.
When asked what her favorite thing about SAU1 was, Gretchen said, “My favorite thing about SAU1 is meeting new people, learning new things, having a computer, and traveling to different parts of Pennsylvania. I hope that I can continue to help and inspire others.”
Gretchen learned the skills she shares with us through a program called We're Outstanding Workers or WOW. We are so glad she decided to share her gifts and talents with us here at SAU1.
Outside of work, Gretchen enjoys walking, dancing, yoga, and spending time with friends and family. Gretchen also participates in the Special Olympics. If you want to learn more about Gretchen you can read her bio here!
Thank you Gretchen for all you do and for using your voice to speak up with SAU1. We are so glad you are sharing their power with us!
