August is International Peace Month. The Winchester Public Library tells us that peace can mean a time when there was no war, or it can mean a time when a person does something, large or small, to speak up for someone else's rights, or to speak up for equality.
The article says that since 1926, every year in August, we celebrate the idea of peace. People around the world wanted to celebrate a time of no war after World War I. It is important that we celebrate times of peace, so that we know how to speak up peacefully when we need to. Here are some ways we thought of that you can peacefully do things for others this month:
To celebrate International Peace Month, SAU1 will feature articles like this to show you how you can peacefully use your power! Knowledge is power and we want you to learn how to use it!
Visit our events page to learn how you can join us and learn how to use your power this month during our free in person or virtual events!
