World Usability Day started in 2005 as a non profit organization. The purpose and mission of the organization is to help create a world in which all people have access to user-friendly technology.
The goal is to make sure that people, the government, and educators can work together to come up with solutions to problems facing society, so that everyone can benefit from technology and services offered around the world.
Together they work to make technology and services more user-friendly for everyone, not just for a select group of people. Many groups from around the world are chosen to share their ideas, and to help create a more inclusive society, bridging the gap between people and technology. Each year, the organization and chosen participants center their ideas around a common theme. These talks lead to the creation of technology that is accessible for most people.
This day is important to us as a self advocacy organization because we are working to build a bridge between people and organizations. At SAU1, we want to create a more Inclusive society for those with disabilities so that they can reach their full potential. A lot of this centers around access to the services and technology that will help them live their life their way. By recognizing World Usability Day, we are recognizing that together we can create a society in which all people have a say and a purpose in the world.
