Accessibility Coordinator and Liaison for the PA Youth Congress, a subcontractor with SAU1’s SASE project.
Hi, my name is Patrouious Achatz. My pronouns are he, him, his.
I live in Westmoreland County and I am the Accessibility Coordinator and Liaison for the PA Youth Congress, a subcontractor with SAU1’s SASE project. I started working with SAU1 in June 2019.
It is important to me to be a self advocate because it is important for people to know that I can speak up for myself.
I became part of SAU1 through a partnership with the PA Youth Congress (PYC) to help SAU1 be inclusive to the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer/questioning, intersex, asexual, plus (LGBTQIA+) community and to help PYC be accessible.
My favorite thing about SAU1 is the board meetings and the fact that we educate people. I hope to continue doing what I am doing now and to do more trainings on inclusion and diversity along with intersectionality.
In my life outside of SAU1, I work for Ikea. When I am not working at Ikea, I am part of Pittsburgh’s drag and variety artist community where I am known as Jack Diamond. I am also involved in theatre and choir.
I graduated from the University of Pittsburgh Bradford Campus with a bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary arts. I specialized in music and theatre and got a minor in gender, sexuality and women’s studies.
My vision for my everyday life is to continue to educate people and also live through art and learn through others.
I have a dog named RuPaw. She is a Mountain Feist mix. I named her after RuPaul from the TV show RuPaul’s Drag Race. I love how gentle she is around children.
My favorite foods are avorite foods are: YQ, which is a high protein, low sugar, low fat yogurt by Yoplait. I like to make anything with Beyond Beef. Because I am no longer allowed to have burgers on a regular bun, I enjoy making Beyond Burger Salad, and than put BBQ or Campfire Sauce on it. I also love the new plant balls from IKEA, and I love their veggie balls. What is the difference? Plant balls are made from a pea protein, while veggie balls are a chickpea protein. They also taste very different. This also may sound odd but I like canned chicken.
