Assistant Coordinator

Hi, my name is Patrouious Achatz. My pronouns are he, him, his. I am the Assistant Coordinator for Self Advocates United as 1. I started out as a subcontractor as the Accessibility Liaison and Coordinator for the Pennsylvania Youth Congress through SAU1's SASE project back in June of 2019. Part of my job was to help SAU1 be inclusive to the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer/questioning plus community, along with the Pennsylvania Youth Congress to be more accessible.

It is important to me to be a self advocate because people need to know that people with disabilities can speak for them selves. As we mention in our "Let's Talk About Relationships" training we do mention that there are many ways to communicate.

My favorite thing about SAU1, is the fact we educate people, I hope to continue what I am doing now, and to do more trainings on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Intersectionality in the future.

Outside of SAU1 I am currently in the works of starting a non profit arts organization for LGBTQ+ Youth in Westmoreland County similar to an organization called Dreams of Hope that is based in Pittsburgh. The reason behind this project, is in the Greater Pittsburgh Area majority of LGBTQ+ resources are in the City of Pittsburgh. You have a wide range of organizations in Allegheny County that support the LGBTQ+ community and that also offer youth programs. While outside of Allegheny all you really have is PFLAG Greensburg, The Westmoreland LGBTQ Interfaith Network, The Westmoreland Diversity Coalition, and The University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg's Gender, Sexuality Alliance. Other than that there really isn't an organization that centers around LGBTQ+ youth between the ages of 13-21. Luckily there is an interest coming from other organizations for this project to be lifted off the ground. I am also very active in the Pittsburgh UU Community Singers, and I participate in drag and variety shows. Lastly, I am currently a member of the Avonworth School District's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee. Lastly, I like to workout, travel, and watch TV. Right now I am obsessed with the following shows Bob's Burger's, 1000lb Sisters, and Return to Amish.

I graduated from the University of Pittsburgh's Bradford Campus with a Bachelor's of Arts in Interdisciplinary Arts and a Minor in Gender, Sexuality, and Women's Studies back in 2019. I have debated on going back to school to get a 2nd Bachelor's degree in Gender, Sexuality, and Women's Studies or go straight for a Master's degree after COVID-19 took a really hard hit on the arts and entertainment industry.

My vision for everyday life is to continue educating people, live through art, learn from others, and see more public schools work on diversity, equity, and inclusion, because that to me is extremely important.

I have a dog named Rupaw. She is a Mountain Feist, and I named her after a Drag Queen named Rupaul. Yes my dog thinks she is the queen of everything so the name fits her. She has many different nicknames. Ru, RuRu, Rubug, and RuSki.

Since I had gastric sleeve surgery in November of 2020, I am to eat High Protein, Less Sugar, and Less Carbs. So my favorite foods are Fit Crunch Protein Bars (the snack size), They only have 3 grams of sugar in each bar, and they taste amazing. The Mint Chocolate Chip bar taste like Girl Scout Thin Mints, the Peanut Butter one tastes like Reese, Peanut Butter and Jelly taste like a PBJ Candy Bar, and the Carmel Peanut tastes like Snickers. I really enjoy Ikea Plant Balls which is made out of a pea protein and tastes like meat. I make a really delicious BBQ Beyond Loaf made with Beyond Meat. I love Two Good Yogurt. I love Mashed Cauliflower, Broccoli, Salads, Carrots, and Apples. Lastly I love and while this is not a food I count this as part of my meals, Premiere Protein Shakes Cookies and Cream.
