Board Member
Hi, my name is Matt Stinner. I live in Duaphin County and I am a member of SAU1’s Board of Directors. I started in 2016.
It is important to me to be a self advocate because I like making a difference in people’s lives. It is important to me to use my voice to advocate for others who don’t have a voice.
I became part of SAU1 so that I could learn how to better advocate for myself and others. Self advocacy is so important for all of us. But we are more effective as a group. It is powerful to be part of that group’s voice.
My favorite thing about SAU1 is working together with the group. Thinking and working through different topics is something I like doing with the board. As part of SAU1, I hope to help move ideas forward and change or develop policy that will make people’s lives better in PA.
In my life outside of SAU1, I enjoy gaming, reading, doing color by numbers, walking and hiking, camping, listening to music, hanging out with my nephew, and playing with my cat.
One of the reasons self advocacy is important to me personally is because my high school years were not good. My voice was not heard.
I would like to take some college courses when the time is right.
