We are thrilled to share some exciting news with you. Institute for Exceptional Care (IEC) is proud to officially introduce the IDD Advocate Corps, a groundbreaking community that aims to transform healthcare from within for individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities (IDD).
What is the IDD Advocate Corps?
Our mission is simple: to build a community of advocates who promote the rights of individuals with IDD within the healthcare system.
The IDD Advocate Corps is a powerful grassroots effort that brings together self-advocates, caregivers/partners, and healthcare professionals. We work together to create a safer and more inclusive healthcare system for individuals with IDD.
In this movement, members share resources, learn together, and receive advocacy training to bring about change across the healthcare industry.
Our Progress So Far
We are proud to share that our founding Advisory Group is made up of healthcare leaders and self-advocates from across the country. They bring visionary perspectives from the clinical, government, health plan, medical society, research, and communications sectors of our healthcare system to this work.
Advisory Group members played a key role in developing the core values, goals, activities, and structure for the IDD Advocate Corps. We have secured funding to build the necessary infrastructure and stand up the first healthcare sector-specific working groups.
We want to express our heartfelt appreciation to the WITH Foundation for their generous support.
Join the Movement. Be a Changemaker.
We need people like you to be a part of this inspiring movement. Healthcare professionals are in a unique position to navigate the system and use their professional relationships to make a positive impact. Community members bring valuable expertise from their lived experience to ground the solutions we advocate for.
